Why the Japanese are better at marketing than we are.

Nope, nope, that about says it all.

Just look at the link: http://www.sunokotan.com/index.html

Perhaps it is the benefit of an animist culture? Or one that never went through an extended phase of industrial form as aesthetic?

It is a much deeper question that an aluminum cooling stand might indicate.

Change of Pace

Well, another school year done. A crazy one, as my heavy posting schedule during its course might sort of, kind of hint at. I am finally ready to admit that teaching turns me into a zombie. Even desk jobs that I would hate would leave me full of creative energy in the evenings, but teaching so totally drains me all I can do is sit there and go "meh".

Time for some brain recovery and a definite change of pace.

So as I recover and scheme, I would like to share the current state of my brain:

Follow Up

The music in the video in my previous post is by ChouChou, a Second Life band devoted to exploring new frontiers of creating music.

That is awesome. Especially since they seem to be part of a movement. Check out the in-world music store where you can buy real MP3s and AIFFs. It even comes with music previews.

You can get ChouChou's songs on iTunes (though if you buy them through Second Life then Apple can't take most of the money on the sale), and check out their "live" concert images.

QiQi Studios

QiQi Studios is a truly awesome Second Life machinima studio out of China. The art work, the production values, and the ideas are all simply awesome.

See their work, be impressed.

You can also find them in Second Life in China and China West sims.

Afganisu-tan

War made cute. And oddly enough, it still contains more meaningful information than the evening news on the topic.

Oobiki (大引)

No, it is not really worth asking why I was looking for a definition of that word, but here is a neat site on Japanese architecture, with just such a definition.

And a House to Live In

The Shelf Pod. Finally a place for my books. Found in Moriguchi, Osaka via What We Do is Secret

Am I allowed to confess the extent to which this house fills me with desire?

Play with your food!

The somen slide from Bandai.

Interesting part is that it is based on a real way of eating somen. It involves a party, flowing water, and someone feeding the somen in at one end and collecting it at the other to feed it in again. The challenge is to catch is as it goes shooting by in the noodle flume.

Japan Inducts Ambassadors of Cute

The Japanese government has decided to take a more active role in exporting cuteness to the rest of the world ... it was only a matter of time.
